A good bath pillow is the difference between a bath you enjoy for ten minutes and one you can stay in for forty. A hard, cold tub edge is hard on your neck; a cushion that holds your head and shoulders lets you actually lie back.
What matters is grip (does it stay where you put it?), comfort (does it support your neck as well as your head?) and how quickly it dries afterwards. These are the bath pillows we’d buy.

Bath Haven 3D Mesh Bath Pillow

- Size17 x 17 in
- Cushion3.5 in at the head
- Suction cups6
A large two-zone cushion: per the maker, 3.5 inches thick under the head and neck and over 2 inches under the shoulders and upper back. Six suction cups hold it to the tub, the air-mesh cover drains and dries quickly, and it is machine-washable. It is the pillow with the strongest combination of rating and review count in our research.
What we like
- Supports neck and shoulders, not just the head
- Six suction cups
- Machine-washable mesh
Watch out for
- Suction needs a smooth tub
- Large; may be too big for a small tub

OMYSTYLE Full Body Bath Pillow
For: cushioning your back and tailbone too
- LengthFull body mat
- Suction cups21

A one-piece mat that runs from the headrest down the back of the tub, so your spine and tailbone rest on cushion rather than enamel. Twenty-one suction cups hold it down; the maker recommends washing after each use and hanging it to dry.
What we like

- Many suction cups
- Washing bag included
Watch out for
- More to wash and dry
- Only suits tubs with a smooth floor and back
How to choose a bath pillow
Suction cups versus none. Most bath pillows stick to the tub with suction cups, which hold best on smooth, glossy acrylic or enamel. On textured or matte surfaces they slip; there, a heavier pillow that rests by weight works better.
Head or head and shoulders. Small pillows cushion the back of the head. Larger, two-panel pillows drape over the tub edge and support the neck and upper back too, which is what makes a long soak comfortable.
Mesh versus foam or vinyl. 3D air-mesh pillows drain and dry fast and feel cool; foam and vinyl feel softer but need to dry out properly to avoid mildew.
Washability. A pillow you can put in the washing machine (most mesh ones) is easier to keep fresh.
Keep it fresh
Rinse the pillow after each bath, squeeze out the water and hang it or stand it upright to dry rather than leaving it stuck to the tub. Machine-wash mesh pillows on a gentle cycle every few weeks if the maker allows it. Pair it with a bathtub caddy tray for the full effect.
How we rate
We score every pick out of 10 on four things, weighted for how people actually use spa gear at home: how well it does its job (40%), whether that is a steamer's steady mist, a pillow's grip on a slick tub or a robe's softness after the tenth wash; build and materials (25%), including what owners report after months of use; ease of use and care (20%), meaning setup, cleaning and storage; and value (15%).
We have not tested these products ourselves. We read the manufacturer's specifications and care instructions and look for the patterns in verified owners' reviews, both the praise and the recurring complaints. No brand pays for placement, and a commission cannot buy a higher rating. When a pick changes, we will say so on this page.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't my bath pillow stay stuck?
Suction cups need a smooth, clean, wet surface. Wipe the tub where the pillow goes, wet the cups and press firmly. On textured or matte tubs they may not hold at all; choose a pillow that relies on its weight instead.
Can I put a bath pillow in the washing machine?
Many mesh pillows are machine-washable on a gentle cycle; foam or vinyl ones usually aren’t. Check the care instructions.
Do bath pillows get mouldy?
They can if they never dry. Hang the pillow to dry after each bath and wash it regularly.
